The big verdict is out - Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra rule the roost by being selected as the most powerful people in the Indian Entertainment business - second year in a row. Choosing the most powerful person cannot be easy, but as Filmfare magazine came out with their Power List, Yash Raj Films is at the top yet again.
Taking a page out of America's Premiere magazine, widely considered the last word in Hollywood reporting, local fanzine Filmfare has for the third year in a row, put together an annual industry Power List that select only the most powerful and influential individuals in the Indian film industry.
When the industry bigwigs were asked who they felt deserved to be at the top spot this year, their replies were unanimous in selecting the Chopra’s. Yash Raj Films continues to dominate the overall Number 1 slot for the second year running. After all, not only did it bankroll two of 2006’s biggest hits - Dhoom:2 and Fanaa - it also hit paydirt by distributing Krrish and Kabhie Alvida Naa Kehna.
The Filmfare Power List survey is conducted across all ranks of the industry by AC Nielsen ORG-MARG and is a hard-nosed look at an individual's commercial equity, minus the blinding effects of glamour and media dazzle.
