Veer-Zaara has been honoured with the Best Film Award at the Zee Cine Awards, the Filmfare Awards and the Screen Awards.

At the Berlin Film Festival it was hailed as an epic from India.

At the Zee Cine Awards, Yash Chopra was also honoured with the Best Director Award for his love legend.

On this occasion Yash Chopra announced that after Veer-Zaara, he would continue making films as long as he has the strength and drive to do so.

However since he is over two generations older than the current lot of young directors, it would be in the fitness of things if he dropped out of competing in the Best Director category for his future films.

The first award Yash Chopra won for Best Director was for WAQT 40 years ago.

This announcement was met with much respect for the Director, who has given Hindi cinema some of it’s most successful and memorable films like Waqt, Ittefaq, Deewar, Trishul, Daag, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Chandni, Lamhe, Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai and various others.

Yash Chopra, a Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient, has also just been honoured with the title of Padma Bhushan by the President of India.
