With ace lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi, whom he considered an inspiration.

They forged a personal bond in early years when Yash Chopra assisted in films like NAYA DAUR, and then from DHOOL KA PHOOL in 1959 till KAALA PATTHAR in 1979, all Yash Chopra directed films in Sahir Ludhianvi’s lifetime had lyrics by the renowned wordsmith.

At the recording of the evergreen song “Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum” from SILSILA (1981), with Amitabh Bachchan, Shivkumar Sharma, Lata Mangeshkar, Jaya Bachchan and Hariprasad Chaurasia.

At the recording of a duet for MASHAAL (1984), with Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.

The legendary singers had also sung various duets in earlier Yash Chopra films like DAAG, KABHI KABHIE, TRISHUL, KAALA PATTHAR and SILSILA.

With composers Shiv-Hari and the legendary Asha Bhosle at the recording of FAASLE (1985).

With CHANDNI (1989), Anand Bakshi became the lyricist for all Yash Chopra films

and the fruitful association resulted in the memorable songs of films like LAMHE, DARR, DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE, DIL TO PAGAL HAI and MOHABBATEIN.
