1. What do you think about the music of Bachna Ae Haseeno

Phenomenal, I love the music of Bachna Ae Haseeno.I have done only one film before this and that’s Saawariya, it had a different genre of music it was more melodious it was more old world charm kind of music so this is my first commercial album and I am super excited about it. The songs that I like in the movie are Khuda Jaane, Ahista Ahista and Jogi Mahi is my personal favourite, it’s a screenplay based song I guess when you see the movie you will enjoy the song more these are those rare cases where a song actually takes the movie ahead.

2. What do you think about Vishal Shekhar

I love them and I think they are phenomenal starting from Dus Bahane to Jhankaar Beats and a bunch of movies I think they are really talented, they have a fresh sound, they have their own distinct style and I think I am really blessed to have music by Vishal-Shekhar in just my second movie.

3. What was it about this film that made you decide to do it

Well I think first and foremost it was the script, I remember i was still working on Saawariya and I wasn’t accepting any movies I was getting a bunch of offers but I just thought that I would wait till the release of the film, then once Siddharth called me and said that Adi wants to meet me so I met both of them and they said that we have this script and we would like you take a look at it and decide if you want to do it but at the back of mind I was ready to say no but I said to myself that I might as well read the script because I was so sure that I would only sign a movie after Saawariya releases so I read the script, it takes me two days to read the script but I just couldn’t put the script of Bachna Ae Haseeno it was really engaging, it was cinematic in just the way it was written. I loved my character and the other characters I also loved how the movie grows. It’s a journey of a boy from age 18 to 30 years and the relationships in his life and how he has to find his own redemption in the movie so I think its one of those rare scripts that just happened to come along and I was just lucky to grab it.

4. Can you tell us something about your character in the film

My character is called Raj, he is the quintessential Yash Raj hero. He is a fun loving guy he is mischievous and flirty, vulnerable, unassuming he is a happy go lucky guy who looks naughty and looks that he is all out to kill with his looks but its nothing of that sort he is quite a clut when it comes to dealing with women and at the same time you will see a maturity, a character grown from what he is as a personality and to what he has become.

5. What was your experience like working with Siddharth Anand

Siddharth Anand has seen me born, we have been family friends since ages so I was very comfortable with him because he understands me as a person i think it’s very important for a director and an actor to have that kind of a relationship because you know some one’s weakness and strengths you know how a person is going to react to a certain situation and how a person should not react to a certain situation so working with him was just awesome. He is such a great guy to be on the sets with, he loves food which is an added bonus he is always ordering lovely food from different places. As a director he knows what he wants, he is not insecure he want cover his scene from every magnification, every angle he is very clear cut in his head that this is how the scene is written, this is how I see it and this is how I want my actors to perform it. He always give you scope for improvisation and give you scope of adding something to a scene but just collaborating with him has been a wonderful experience and I hope that I get to work with him in the near future.

6. Can you tell us about your experience working with Minissha Lamba

Minissha Lamba is one of the people who wreaks goodness she has no negativity inside her. She is very unassuming, she kept to her own on the sets. When Siddharth used to call her for the shots she use to be an avid listener as to what Siddharth wants, she used to be very helpful towards me. I also think there is a void of that Preity Zinta kind of actress in today’s day and age, I think Minissha Lamba fits it perfectly to the “T”. It was great fun working with her and I think she has done a wonderful job she has played an 18 year old and 25 year old so you can see the growth in her character too and I am sure you guys are going to love her.

7. Can you tell us about your experience working with Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu is the hottest women on this planet earth. We all were star struck when she was on the set and we all were just taken aback on how hot she is. She is just wonderful and such a great human being. I was lucky enough to strike a really close friendship with her, I used to hangout with her beyond shooting and what she’s done in the film I don’t think any actress could portray this role. She plays the character of Radhika who is a small town girl, it’s a relationship that I am having with an older women who is older by three to four years and the way she has played it, I don’t want to talk much because it just takes away from what she has come done and raises to many expectation but I think she has come across all of it and she is wonderful in it.

8. Can you tell us about your experience working with Deepika Padukone

I remember Deepika and me were offered the movie simultaneously together. We started our readings which was back in August 2007 at the same time she was working in Om Shanti Om and me in Saawariya so we have actually seen this movie from its conceiving stage to now when its releasing. Its awesome working with Deepika firstly because she is my girlfriend and secondly she is such a talented actress, she is focused she knows what she wants, she is not one of those who just wants to look glamorous and come on the sets, she focuses on the scene the dialogue and the way the director wants her to do it. People ask me do you have good chemistry with her? I really don’t think I can answer that only after the movie is released and how the audience to react to it is when you can say a couple has a chemistry or not so I await that and I hope people like our work and pairing together. She plays Gayatri in the movie and she has done a great job too.

9. Can you tell us something about working with Aki Narula and your styling in the film

Aki Narula is a rage right now in the industry because of his work. The distinct look that he has given all the characters is unbelievable if you see the film you will wonder how come a designer can have so much of range where his texture is concerned his colours are concerned and his styling is concerned. He is not the kind of designer who will just send clothes to the set, he will be there on the set he will wait for you to wear your clothes he will make minor adjustments maybe to a collar or to a sleeve which makes a load of difference. He is very talented and I am just going to put it in my contract that in every film I do Aki Narula comes with me.

10. Can you tell us about the experience shooting the song Khuda Jaane/Ahista Ahista and Bachna Aee Haseeno

Khuda Jaane is a romantic song we shot at a bunch of wonderful locations in Italy. The entire idol of the song was me dressed in white because the character has found Nirvana because of his love for Gayatri the character. The entire song is done in isolation you want see any other character/person in any frame of the song so I think it’s a good response.

Ahista Ahista is a song picturised on Minisha Lamba and me. It’s the first song in the movie, it’s a very young song full of energy we both are 18 year old and driving around on a bike in Switzerland seeing these wonderful places and meeting wonderful people and its sung by Lucky Ali who is one of my absolute favourites so it was great lip syncing to his sound and it is another one of my personal favourite from the movie because it is a kind of a song which you can play in a lounge, car in the club it has a very loungy and relaxed feel. Ahmed Khan has done a great job he is just phenomenal the way he is done all the songs I have to give it to him for his vision, the way he has choreographed and the way he has asked us to portray certain expressions is just fantastic. If people like these songs its 50 percent credit to Ahmed Khan and 50 percent to Siddharth Anand.

Bachna Aee Haseeno is a music video the song is a remix of my father’s old song Bachna ae Haseeno from Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin so there was always a bit of a nostalgic feel to it. It was wonderful shooting that song, we shot the song for four days. It was the first time that I actually worked with the three beautiful ladies on one single day. I was like the cool dude on the sets that day wooed by these unbelievably beautiful women so it was great experience. It wreaks a lot of goodness, fun, young and hip and I hope you guys like it.

11. Can you tell us something about the shoot experience in Italy

I have been to Italy for the first time we went to Venice,Puglia and bunch of other places. The people there are just wonderful, the food is great the entire culture is so good. The Italian crew that we worked with weren’t fussy and were very comfortable and professional.

12. What was it like working in a multi starrer

I think i am the constant factor in the movie. It’s my character which meets all the other wonderful characters in that journey so working with them and growing the character has been a wonderful experience. I have truly been blessed to have played this character, to have lived as Raj to have met these beautiful ladies to have worked with them and to have realized a lot of things in my life because this character teaches you a lot. The film is not being modestic it is a quintessential Yash Raj movie so it’s not professing, it’s not trying to push morals at you. It is one of those films where you really have a good time watching it where the first half will bring a smile to your face and the second half will bring a smile and a tear to your face so hopefully you guys will go thru these emotions that I went thru while shooting this movie.

13. Any one memorable incident that comes to your mind during the shoot of the film

Honestly there was not one fun memorable day because everyday was fun and memorable and not just on set when we were traveling, when we were on outdoor we all got along famously with each other we use to hangout, play pranks, have wonderful food. I think this movie has a record of traveling to so many places we started in Amritsar we shot in Bombay we went to Australia, Sydney, Switzerland, Zurich, Rapperswilll then we went to Italy, Venice and Capri which is one of the nicest places I have seen and I strongly recommend anyone on a honeymoon to go there. Everyday has been memorable so I am going to miss the entire cast and crew and the production because it’s been the great time of my life.
